Alysia Michelle James
Alysia Michelle James is a composer, movement artist and aerialist from Las Vegas, NV. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Music Composition degree in the College of Creative Studies at UC Santa Barbara, she pursued a niche career as a Composer-Aerialist and has performed internationally to original and collaborative music, most notably with William Close and the Earth Harp Collective. She is the founder of Music of Ghosts, a musical act and aerialist troupe that performs exclusively to her original music, which has been showcased at Lucidity Festival and the Santa Barbara Center for the Arts, Science and Technology (SBCAST) where she was an artist in residence from 2022-2023. She completed a Master of Music degree in 2020 at Cal State Long Beach where her research was in the connection between music and movement. She teaches Music for Dance in the Theater and Dance Department and is currently a second year PhD student at UC Santa Barbara where she majors in Music Composition. This expertise has made her a master of choreography and performative expression through her aerial craft.
