Carmen Aqimowon-Sandoval

Carmen -Aqimowon -Sandoval is an educator, jewelry designer, painter, printmaker and material Chumash cultural artist. Carmen currently resides in New Cuyama. She grew up on the Chumash reservation located in Santa Ynez, California.

Her jewelry is based on a foundation of local California Chumash tradition, craftsmanship and integrity. She incorporates traditional design elements into her work, she honors a distinguished legacy of Chumash creativity. A Sʰamala language teacher, she has traveled with the Sʰamala singers and shared traditional gifts of Chumash dance, music and song with audiences of all ages.
