Kristi Solfire

Kristi SolFire's mission is to inspire community, love, and fun through tribal style dance. Having studied West African dance in Mali, Ghana, Scotland and the USA, combined with holding a lifelong practice of conscious dance and a never-ending love of BASS music, Kristi fused all of her passions together into an energetic expression that honors the spirit and the tribe through meditative dance. This unique movement form is known as Womp Stomp, created in 2011 as a weekly dance experience in Portland, OR. Since then, Womp Stomp has grown into an internationally acclaimed sensation, and has been featured as a workshop at festivals such as Symbiosis and the Boom Festival.

Scheduled Workshops
Womp Stomp
Day: Saturday | Duration: 60 min. | Location: Wise Owl in the TreesWhat do you get when you fuse West African dance with freestyle ecstatic dance, and then you add some glitchy, wompy, dirty, bass heavy beats? Womp Stomp! You are invited to Womp your heart out in this unique tribal movement meditation. In addition to moving authentically through West African and ecstatic dance, Womp Stomp contains elements of Qigong and kundalini energetic movement. The sub-bass in dubstep and other electronic music vibrates our lower chakras so strongly, but tends to leave us disconnected from ourselves. That's where Womp Stomp comes in, funneling that awakened energy up from our lower chakras and out through our hearts, using African dance as a vehicle. Once our hearts are opened, we radiate love and shine in this soulful expression together as a tribe! Come join the tribe at this interactive dance experience that's for everybody!
