Jon Scott & Travis Webb
Jon and Travis met in Taos, NM through a mutual friend and dance partner. It took them about three hours of writing ideas and choreography on the studio mirrors before running out of space, necessitating a relocation to the roof with a bottle of wine. Given that the New Mexico night sky is a more appropriately sized canvas, they stayed there metaphorically for two years, connecting dots and heartily agreeing with one another about the importance of dance as a medium for social change.
Argentine Tango is the only partner dance which relies solely on communication as there is no single rhythmic step that is followed. In this light Tango is beautiful example of effective or deficient communication. Equally as potent, is the concept of generosity, support and creative collaboration.
While teaching Traditional Argentine Tango, Travis and Jon have been developing a new dance form and with this, the message of what a true supportive and nurturing, collaborative relationship can look like both in relating to those closest to us as well as in the world of economics.
Scheduled Workshops
Core Encounters, The Warrior's Dance
Day: Friday | Duration: 75 min. | Location: Warriors' ArenaA new dance, a new music, a new paradigm. This 60 minute workshop is an exploration of Tango generosity, communication and collaboration as a lens from which to view both our business and personal relationships. Through movement, we can recognize that emotional and energetic clarity are as important as core strength. All of these aspects are a process of knowing ourselves and strengthening our personal dance so that our collaborative dance becomes greater. As a warrior better knows his opponents center through knowing his own, he enters into a collaborative dance with the intentions of destroying. From this same mind, we may enter into our dance with the intention of supporting rather then destroying the other's center. Through this dynamic, humanity may come to recognize the importance of supporting each and every personal dance as an obvious means of tapping the greatest collective potential.
