Grimm Zimmer

Grimm has been one of the great American innovators in fan dance and technique. Add that to the fact that he is a male fan dancer, and that makes him just about one of a kind. More recently a notable innovator in levi-wand technique, Grimm has been contributing to the American spinning scene since long before he recently relocated to Los Angeles, CA. Also the former General Manager of Kinetic Fire Festival in Ohio, his contributions to the flow arts are many and his dedication is self-evident.

Fan Technique
Day: Saturday | Duration: 75 min. | Location: Spin CycleTech Schm... oh wait, this class IS all tech! This class will focus on some crafty cuts, while learning to build techy vocabulary around your authentic movement instead of the other way around. We will delve into moves that cover distances, some transitions, and other moves that involve lots of squirming. We will then melt our brains with all the naughty I can fit into an hour. Come hungry!
Some experience with fans is recommended.Levi-Wand Lucidity!
Day: Sunday | Duration: 75 min. | Location: Spin CycleFlow-Wand, Levi-Stick, Floating Cane, they have many names. I can sum it up in one word... "WHEE!"
This tool is the best dance partner of them all, and this class will show you why... flowey and showey, snappy and sudden, this prop does it all with grace. We will run through the release methods and basic spins of the wand, and experiment with different rythms and string lengths. Then we will work on stepping around and trading off the role of "lead" with the wand, drawing straight lines, plane tilting, pirrouhettes and dismounts, and hand/illusion positions and grabs/string variations (classic floating cane). Later we will play with the weight, covering isolations, quarter and half leans, glides, as well as "rockets" and other double staff fusion.
