Michael North
Dr. Mike North is an undaunted, anything-but-mild innovator known for his rapid prototyping and proclivity for socially positive design. Graduating summa cum laude from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a B.S. Mechanical Engineering, Dr. North went on to receive a Masters in Material Science and Engineering as well as a Doctorate in Nanotechnology, also from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Dr. North has published in several major scientific journals, including Nature, and acted as host for the Discovery Channel series, Prototype This!.
An avid world traveller, he is passionate about engaging communities and motivating others to get involved in improving lives globally. Dr. North, inspired by his work with miraclefeet on the “Miracle Brace” project, founded ReAllocate in 2011.  ReAllocate is a nonprofit dedicated to improving global quality of life through the creation of a collaborative network of engineering expertise and resources; that network is then routed toward the needs of under-resourced communities.
Aside from his work on ReAllocate, Dr. North continues to speak internationally on design, innovation, and community building; coaches impact innovation at both Stanford and UC Berkeley; and passionately mentors world changers.

Day: Sunday | Duration: 60 min. | Location: Fishbon ProsceniumCreation Communities - A fun and entertaining look at how communities behave as productive ecosystems for creating art and technology. By way of example the audience will see how communities spanning from Clan Destino (a self organizing Santa Barbara arts group) to Prototype This! (a highly curated Discovery Channel show) to ReAllocate (a nonprofit out to innovate for humanity) are able to create spectacular pieces of art and technology. Will the audience be inspired? As it too is a creation community within the fertile grounds of The Lucidity Festival.
