Sharu’s first spiritual awakening occurred while dancing on a dry desert dance floor two years after he started DJing in 2000 in the L.A. underground. This initiated his path of merging the transformative experiences of the dance floor with the ritual of ancient yoga and mediation practices. Through this awakening he set his passion for DJing aside and went deep into his yoga and meditation practices living and teaching in Kundalini Yoga Ashrams, assisting world renowned teachers and providing his healing, teaching and destiny consulting services to communities world wide. All the while his passion for DJing still burned bright and 5 years later in 2007 he began to remix sacred mantra with dance beats creating ecstatic soundscapes for his Kundalini Yoga dance classes! Towards the end of 2008 his spiritual journey took another turn when he met John Holmstrom, a professor and former 2 time president of National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA). He began a direct one on one mentorship with him in Joshua Tree, CA and immersed himself in Himalayan Shamanism and the Vedic sciences. Through this immersion Sharu discovered a limb of the Vedic Sciences, Jyotish, the Vedic Astrological science of light. This began his life long study and refinement of shining light on karma to align people with their soul’s purpose. After this immersion in Joshua Tree, Sharu moved to the Bay Area in 2011 and found his niche as a DJ with the conscious dance community led by the Ecstatic Dance movement in Oakland. He currently holds residencies and performs for numerous festivals and conscious dance events including Ecstatic Dance in Oakland, New York, and Grass Valley and Dance Journey in Berkeley, CA. In between performances he holds a Vedic Astrology consulting practice and assists people with yoga and meditation to align them with their highest potential and destiny.
