Thomas Peisel

Thomas is an author, filmmaker, speaker, and former ice cream man. His book, A Field Guide to Lucid Dreaming takes its readers on a journey in reconnecting with their dreams and in learning to navigate consciously within them. Inspired by the idea that lucid dreaming isn’t about sleeping, but about waking up, Thomas shows us that when we begin to consciously create our own dreams, we naturally understand how we can consciously create our waking lives as well. Thomas is a graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Thomas been featured on NPR, Men’s Fitness and Tricycle magazines, ABC radio, PIX-11, The Lucid Dream Exchange, Elle.com and Time Out New York. In October 2013, Thomas spoke at a TEDx conference held in New York City’s lower east side. He grew up in Belmar, New Jersey.

    Why do we dream? What does science and history tell us about this strange and mysterious nighttime occurrence? Join author and TEDxspeaker Thomas Peisel as he takes us on a group journey into the dreamworld. Using projectors, animation, video, and music, we will explore what it’s like to wake up inside of your dreams, how the dreamworld works differently from our waking life, and ultimately how they are the same. Every single night we have access to a rich and sophisticated inner world. Learn how and WHY we would want to explore this world, and what it really means to “wake up” to the dream.
