Priya Mohan
Priya D. Mohan is a Coach, Consultant and Practitioner in Pro-Active Mediation, Sound Healing, Harmonious Collaborations, Team Building and Leadership and Transformative Event Production. Priya guides individuals and groups by mediating conflict and tension with empathy, awareness of power dynamics, facilitating understanding and restoring a harmonic balance between relations. Her spiritual and healing disciplines, advocacy training in human rights and dignity, cultivates an integrated practice of raising empathy, compassion, understanding and empowerment. Priya has been a licensed attorney since 2006 and primarily litigated human-rights and immigration cases through 2012. Her direct experience of the inherently emotional nature of human rights issues was amplified by the social impact of Post-9/11 policies amongst immigrant communities. She began to study mediation and alternative conflict resolution and learned approaches to conflict and tension through the practice of patience, kindness, reverence, generosity, and light-heartedness. Priya found integrated solutions guided by Heart wisdom, empowerment through personal truth, and the wisdom unifying all perspectives. Priya is a certified Sound Healer since 2007 and utilizes the practice of listening and tuning into people’s emotions and blocks that may prevent clear communication and understanding. Priya developed a system of Sound practices for integrative dialogue, group council and mediation. Within Priya’s practice, sound and other mindfulness approaches are primary tools to calibrate the emotional vibration of a perspective and open the channels of communication. As a transformative event producer Priya is bringing the world of arts, spirituality, human rights, environmental justice and youth engagement together. She is currently one of the lead producers for the I.AM.LIFE project. I.AM.LIFE is dedicated to raising the awareness of Amazonia its Rainforest and People, by inspiring people back to nature through the arts and media and engaging the Youth as our next generation of leaders. Priya is most passionate about her creative endeavors with Avari Music, and musical collaborations with members of The LuvAmp Project and the Sonic Butterfly with Andrea Brooke. Avari is a sound healing project bringing together contemplative listening, chanting of sacred mantras in Sanskrit and Pali, improvising with raagas (melodic scales) and facilitating meditation with mindful awareness of breath and intention. From 2011-2013 Priya studied with the late Lakshmi Shankar. Studying with Lakshmi Ji has greatly influenced the sound of Avari, diving deeper into Priya’s ancestral roots of Classical Indian Raaga and devotional music. Since her teacher’s passing, Priya is rediscovering her Vedic lineage and merging its influence with her multicultural platform of devotional creativity through the I.AM.LIFE project and Avari Music.
