Randy Rose hails from Pittsburgh, PA, where she attended Catholic school and became obsessed with Gypsy Rose Lee as a youngster. (She attributes her current career choices to both of these facts.) A practitioner of classical burlesque, she has studied with Jo “Boobs” Weldon, Penny Starr Jr., and Michelle L’Amour. She puts the “fem” in “feminism” and considers burlesque a potent form of self-empowerment.

Scheduled Presentations

  • The Titillating History of Burlesque
Day: Saturday | Duration: 30 min. | Location: Fishbon University Stage

The Titillating History of Burlesque (working title) will be an interactive transmedia all-you-can-handle smorgasbord of burlesque goodness. Using slides, video clips, audience participation, and — most importantly — live demonstrations, I will cover the history of the art form, from its ignominious bastard-child-of-vaudeville beginnings to its equally scandalous present iteration.
