Vokab Kompany

The Vokab Kompany is a San Deigo based hip hop/soul/electronica act that is gaining quite a bit of notoriety in Southern California’s throbbing music industry. With bigger than life stage presence and dynamic studio work, including collaborations with national acts, such as: The Mutaytor, Killer Preist (Wu Tang Clan), Lateef the Truth Speaker (Blackalicious, Latyrx), Mc Souleye (BLVD), AL Howard (K23 Orchestra) and Main Flow (Mood), they have begun crossing genre lines and packing some of the biggest venues throughout Southern California. They hit the streets (and beaches) mid 08′ with both cult pleasers and radio ready tunes, in the production of sophmore album The New Kong (LP release Jan 09′), which offers; electronic up tempo/ambient, soulful melodic, indie, funk and drum/bass mixed hip hop. Although new to the scene as a unit, most of the band has toured extensively throughout the past ten years, sharing the stage with a hodgepodge of national and international acts. If you’re ready be swept up in tightly woven grooves, melodic soul and rhythmic tongue ballistics this is your cup-o-tea.
The two Singer/Mc’s; Rob Hurt (founder and co-producer of VK debut album: Liquid Language) and Burkey Baby (Singer/Mc of Grammy nominated: Native Root, also featured on MTV/Bakery Music production T-Hop, w/ Golden Triangle, Thailand) are the core members of Vokab, and front the stage for anywhere from 4 to 20 musicians and professional dancers (including members of the Mutaytor Crew and Cirque Bizerk). Dance floors rumble, cars go bump in the night…. eardrums, equilibriums and consciousness be prepared for that New Kong…ba ba ba bigger than life!
