Lucidity is bringing its own special blend of magic to downtown Santa Barbara at the historic Arlington Theater on Friday October 4. Let it be known, this event will NOT be your average theater event.
We’re continuing to explore the interaction between large scale stage production with world class acts and village atmosphere offerings, each with their own special vibe and educational experiences. This event is a unique opportunity to experience what Lucidity is all about and what we are offering to the world. It is also an opportunity to connect with the brothers and sisters you never knew you had.
Festivities will begin at the Healing Sanctuary (yes we will be creating a Healing Sanctuary at the Arlington!) at 3pm with a Healer’s welcome circle, followed by some Qigong instruction and a Sound Healing ceremony. We will also have a Goddess Dome, a space dedicated to bringing the divine feminine and our connection to Earth back to the forefront of our society. In Warrior’s Way you can experience Martial Arts and Capoeira instruction, as well as peruse the hand-crafted offerings of our Conscious Merchants.
We are committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment for families, and we’ll have some wonderful interactive spaces for children. We’re excited to be partnering up with Save the Mermaids to create an all-village treasure hunt, which will take participants of all ages on an “Animal Spirit Journey” throughout the different village zones around the theater. The treasure hunt will take place from 3pm to 5pm.
We have an amazing line-up inside the theater, beginning at 6pm with a screening of The Bloom Series’ documentary on “New Ways of the Sacred” which transformational festivals like Lucidity are pioneering. This will be followed by a keynote presentation by Jamaica Stevens, community organizer and founder of The Tribal Convergence Network.
Right afterwards Lucent Dossier will mesmerize you with a show that blends vaudeville theatrics, ballet and aerial performances with a narrative that will bring you to tears one minute and make you jump to your feet with glee the next.
William and the Earth Harp (2012 finalist of America’s Got Talent) will follow with its deep heart-soothing ethereal chords. Enjoy the sounds of Govinda playing live string instruments with middle Eastern influences to digitally arranged rhythms and beats; Rising Appalachia and the Human experience, a musical project interweaving Southern folk sultriness and strong vocals with accents of progressive electronica; and LiveSquad, a pioneer in fusing bass-heavy electronic beats with live guitar, keyboard and drumset.
Participants are invited to move in and out of the theater throughout the night and get a taste of the different layers of the offerings. After nightfall there will be aerial performances on the Pyrobar, DJ’s playing on the Nomad’s Nook stage, where fire performances will take place.
In true Lucidity fashion, we’ll also completely transform the space visually, inside and out, paying homage to the existing structure and decorating it with bamboo, textiles and special lighting effects….. because we love creating, and we love to inspire your minds and touch your hearts!
We’re dedicated to integrating our values with everything we do. For example, we’ll be bringing organic and sustainable food to the theater concessions courtesy of the Isla Vista Food Coop. We encourage people to bring their own cups to the venue. We’re also super excited to have some of our local non-profit partners like the Youth Interactive be a part of this co-creative project. And, as always, we will be offering healing, sound and kinetic arts.
We’ll see you there!
