Tony Koehl
Tony Koehl has been fortunate enough to have been able to work in the movie industry for a while, donating his creative visions to movies such as Van Helsing and Pirates of the Caribbean and to television shows such as Charmed. Illustrated the wine label for Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle, Puscifer. However, most of his commissioned work has been in the death metal music scene. Having been Tony Koehl’s second passion, asides from art, he began creating album art for the extreme metal genre and has since then gained more notoriety through the scene. Creating over 150 album covers starting in 2000, Tony Koehl has been able to create a name for him-self in a sector of music he has enjoyed since his youth and now looking to expand it out to the world.
I paint from the heart, while doing live art I allow the event and the people guide my vision to the painting and I try to capture the spirit of the event and illustrate it to the painting. I do a lot of layering building up the paint and then a tight render on the last day to finish up the piece.
