Since its inception in 2011, Lucidity Festival has strived to build bridges with organizations sharing its core values. Lucidity started with forging mutually supportive connections with local non-profit partners. Lucidity Festival’s Strategy for Good Director, Spencer Weiner’s tireless advocacy for bridge-building led Lucidity to an international collaboration with the esteemed educational vessel The MV Explorer and the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) and their Enrichment Voyages Program .

Founded 50 years ago Semester at Sea was created as a vehicle for world peace and cross-cultural learning. During the spring and fall semesters, the approximately 100-day program circumnavigates the globe, with up to 720 undergraduates traveling from North America heading either east across the Atlantic or west across the Pacific, visiting from 8 to 11 countries in Asia, Africa, Europe and South America, before ending the voyage in another North American port. Along the way they learn about everything from political science and social anthropology to conscious business and hands-on activism. Many of its graduates have become founders of non-profit organizations throughout the world.

This December, on a 16 day voyage spanning eight Caribbean and South American countries, Bahamas > Dominican Republic > Colombia > Panama > Costa Rica > Guatemala > Mexico > San Diego, several Lucidity Collaborators will be offering their wisdom and knowledge.

Jonah Haas will talk about Lucid Dreaming; Jamaica Stevens will present The Bloom: A Journey Through Transformational Festivals”. Amanda Sage will teach her own unique approach to Visionary art, and Spencer will lead a workshop on transformational photography. These lucid presenters will thus be joining the ranks of such illustrious former speakers aboard the MV Explorer as Nobel Laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Mother Teresa, Nobel Laureate Nelson Mandela, First Black President of South Africa, Arthur C. Clark, Ruth Bader-Ginsberg and Bill Clinton.

The intimate ship offers a way of travel from a former era, where people travel and slow down, get to know each other and experience new lands and cultures together. This is not your usual cruise, no all-you-can-eat buffets or gambling, or mindless entertainment and imbibing on this journey. Enrichment Voyages presents itself as a kind floating village, with a rich array of experiences similar to what one might find at a festival: one can choose from a variety of workshops, simply relax on deck, enjoy nutritious food, and explore new lands, alone or on group excursions.
