Jessica Levine is a sculptural artist focusing largely in the metal realm. She is interested in the idea of reality in physical space versus the one that exists in her head. Never feeling really “real” even as a child, she uses art to bridge the gap between the space in her mind and the space in the physical world her body resides in. Creating sculptures allows her to feel as though she is actively affecting “reality” by putting something into physical space that was not there before. Her sculptures tend to take forms inspired by nature and geometry. The contrasts between hard, straight geometrical lines and soft flowing natural forms further play to the theme of dual realities, which are constantly occupying her thoughts.
