Scheduled Appearances

  • Workshop: Plant Medicine for children

Day: Friday Time: 4:00 PM Duration: 45 Location: Family Garden (Phamily Lair)

As a society we have evolved to trust this little pill to take all our ailments or disease away. It is second nature to reach for the asprin, the neosporin, and the chalky tablets or perscribed pill, wth no thought about the side effects internally, externally and globally. Our culture is raising children unaware of the medicine our mother Earth has already provided. It is time togo back to trusting the bark, the root, the flower to heal us.

This workshop will take children through the importance of going back to the way of thinking and to give them simple knowledge of how to care for themselves by using what the Mother has given by hearing stories, seeing, touching, smelling and tasting the plants. As well as the appropriatness of how to ask and how much to take from the plant and the importance of why we have such value. Participants will make a simple sachet to take with them.

  • Workshop: Storytelling Stones

Day: Saturday Time: 5:00 PM Duration: 60 Location: Family Garden (Phamily Lair)

Many Native cultures are known for their rich oral tradition- these powerful tales, often told by tribe elders to the younger generation not only related their history, but also entertained and preserved their culture. Every story breathes life into the culture, and gives meaning to their history but also teaches lessons about love, friendship, honor as well as their symbiotic connection to the earth and the intimate relationship to the animals they depend on.

Through Native American pictographs on stone prompts, the participants will breath life into this lost art of storytelling, hopefully reviving the need to continue their tribes values and history.
