Alex Milaychev

Alex is a certified Life Coach residing in San Luis Obispo. She believes that true happiness and joy is not a result of outer life success, but rather the opposite. She has an insatiable curiosity for what makes people come alive with self-awareness and global consciousness, and is a master of asking the right questions at the right times. A few years ago she was introduced to the art of story telling as a form of self discovery and growth, and it has been a passion ever since. She tells stories to people she meets on the beach, and to her clients, and to the trees and to her cats. If you get a chance to chat with her, she might even have a story just for you.

Scheduled Appearances

  • Workshop: Stories for Kids: The Firefly Princess (followed by) The Cowherd and the Weaving Maid

Day: Friday Time: 6:00 PM Duration: 30 Location: Family Garden (Phamily Lair)

These are two beautiful, and fun stories that explain the natural world in magical ways. The Firefly Princess will explain why we always see moths and other bugs flying into the fire at night. And the Cowherd and the Weaving Maid tells a story of the two lovers that stand on each side of the milky way, reunited only one day and night of the year on a Chinese holiday called The Double Seventh.

  • Workshop: Self Discovery through Story: The Tale of the Fox and the Monk

Day: Saturday Time: 4:00 PM Duration: 30 Location: Goddess Grove (Temple of Benzaiten)

This is an old Japanese tale about a fox who falls in love with a monk. It's a rather sad tale, but it really kindles the heart. At the end I will open the floor to discussion so that everyone can have an opportunity to share what they learned and how they connect with the narrative.

  • Workshop: Self Discovery through Story: The Handless Maiden

Day: Sunday Time: 5:00 PM Duration: 30 Location: Goddess Grove (Muses Creation Station - Art Dome)

This is a slightly longer tale about (you guessed it) the handless maiden. It's a German tale found in the brother's Grimm collection that has a very deep mixture of light and dark themes with an ultimately mostly happy ending. At the end of the story I will open up the discussion with some questions to the audience about what they connected with. (This is my favorite part). Everyone always connects with the narrative in different ways and being able to have some time to think about how it touched you, as well as hearing how it touched others is always a wonderful experience.
