Christina “Keets” Martin was born in March 1988 and grew up in Sacramento, California. Throughout her childhood and into her early college years, Keets was very science oriented and did not take her first actual art class until her fourth year of college. She graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. in Biological Sciences emphasizing in Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology. Not wanting to be told what is “right” or “wrong” in art, she has never taken a beginning art class and is predominately self-taught. The more she finds herself transitioning into a world of art from a world of science, the more she realizes how much art is in science, how much science is in art, and how they are one in the same. While striving to follow her intuition without judgment, fear, or limitations, Keets believes that there are no rules in art and views accidents as opportunities rather than mistakes. It is clear to her that her journey through art mirrors her journey through life. Her mission through her work is to fuse art, science, and spirit and to illustrate how these elements are connected within the magical oneness of all.
