Ragamaze is the blend of the modern with the ancient, a fusion that has transcended confusion and has cultivated a strong foundation in the hearts of listeners. Ragamaze goes beyond the ordinary to instill an experience that is beyond mind, matter, and words. It is an experience that stills the mind and allows the heart to open.Ragamaze is a unique project that takes the ancient eastern musical traditions of Indian ragas and blends them with the modern movement of electronic composition. Mazy Karandish, a student of western and eastern music, paired up with his Sitar teacher to bring light to a unique sound that transcends culture, time, and words.

His sitar teacher, Nasir Syed, is a classically trained sitar played who studies directly under Shujaat Khan, one of the most famous living sitarists in the current time. Nasir has devoted the past 12 years to rigorous practice of North Indian Classical music as it is expressed through the Vilayat Khani tradition. Nasir speaks through his sitar and aims to mimic the human vocal chord with every meend movement.

The collaboration of the two artists is giving rise to a new genre of music they call Gamakstep. Gamak is a form of ornamentation in Indian music that alters the pitch of a note, using heavy forceful oscillations between adjacent and distant notes. This unique ornamentation is masterfully performed by Nasir which gives rise to a very unique sound that speaks to the listener when combined with the trance inducing electronic beats that Mazy creates. The creative energy of both performers creates a synergy that takes the listener to a place they have never been before. Enjoy the journey.
